Athens Expert Photography Tour

A relaxed, 3-hour photo walk in the historic centre of Athens with George Tatakis.

3 hr
45 euros
Metro Station: Acropolis

Service Description

This is not a photography class, nor a typical city tour. It’s a relaxed, small-group walk through the heart of historic Athens—guided by George Tatakis, one of Greece’s most acclaimed photographers. With over 22 international awards and features in National Geographic, The New York Times, and Leica Fotografie International, George leads the way through the streets he knows intimately. Over the course of three hours, you’ll walk a carefully chosen route that includes Plaka, Anafiotika, Monastiraki, Psirri, Filopappou Hill, Thissio, and the scenic Dionysiou Areopagitou promenade. You’ll pass ancient ruins, quiet courtyards, island-like alleys, and classic Athenian storefronts—places that reflect the city’s layered character beyond the postcard version. A rooftop coffee stop offers time to rest, take in the view, and chat casually about photography, the city, or anything else that comes up. This is a walk for those who enjoy observation. You’ll take your own photographs as you go, and George will be there to answer questions, suggest an angle, or simply share the moment. Whether you shoot with a smartphone or a Leica, what matters here is curiosity—not gear. The walk is limited to ten participants to keep it personal and conversational. It’s designed for all levels, from hobbyists to professionals, or simply anyone who wants to slow down and engage with the city differently. Athens is rich, chaotic, quiet, monumental, and deeply human. This walk brings you into contact with all of it—side by side with someone who’s spent years studying how to frame it.
